Best Local Wineries In Kansas City

You may be visiting Kansas City for a while or even moved there recently. Wine is something that you enjoy and want to sample some of the best local wineries in the area. This way, you can get the wine at the source, not the store.

We have looked at many local wineries in Kansas City and have a list of them. Go check them out!

1. KC Wine Co

The first thing that you will notice when you come here is that there is a giant room that looks like half a barrel from the outside. It is appropriately named the Barrel Room. The people behind this winery refurbished an old Quonset hut. It can hold up to 100 people at a time. Best of all, there are no reservations needed and they don’t charge for admission. You do have to be 21+ to come in.

You can choose from several types of wine and ciders. There will be at least one that pleases your palate,

2. Pirtle Winery

This historic winery has been around for over 40 years. They have won awards over the course of that time … and if you have a hankering for mead, which has been around for thousands of years,  they are the ones to go to.  They are located in what used to be a Lutheran Evangelical Church. It’s a historic site due to the church being built in 1867. If you are near Weston, Mo., go there.

3. Stonehaus Farms

This winery recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. It is a family-owned winery and they have many award-winning estate wines. You can tour their vineyards and then sample the wines that they have to offer in the tasting room. This is also a popular wedding destination – who wouldn’t want wine during the reception? Stonehaus has not one but two facilities that can handle all kinds of wedding parties.

4. Somerset Ridge Vineyard & Winery

2023 marked the 25th anniversary of the opening of this winery. You will find a wide selection of award-winning wines that can please every taste – dry, dessert, and semi-sweet. There is a barn where you can go taste these wines … and the ambiance is hard to beat. They have live music and art shows, too. If the weather is nice, you can go sit outside and savor the wine.

5. Amigoni Urban Winery

This winery began in its owners’ backyard before they branched out and bought a larger property. The reason that it is known as an urban winery is that the tasting room is separate from the actual winery. You can go on a tour to see how the wine is made and even taste some there. You can also use the tasting room for events and parties and have familiar wines like Cabernet Sauvignon.

6. Vox Vineyard

You don’t have a long drive from downtown Kansas City to reach this place … a mere 20 minutes. They recently built a new tasting room and production facility. They make 16 Missouri wines while using more than 40 American Heritage grapes that they grow on their own property. They only take appointments for tastings.

Each one of these places has its own unique qualities and varieties of wine. They know how to make the best types and you will find something satisfactory in each of them. Whether you are a tourist or a local, if you like wine, you should find time to go to them.

These are the best of the best when it comes to wineries in Kansas City. They have a wide range of different wines to suit everyone’s tastes. No matter the budget, there will be a wine that is perfect for any particular situation. Have fun exploring!
